Two senior IFS officers of Gujarat-cadre – Chief Wildlife Warden Nityanand Srivastava and Deputy Conservator of Forests (Surendranagar) Nikunj Patel – are on a tour of Germany to attend a meeting on conservation of Wild Ass.
The meeting, to be held at Vilm Island, has been organised by the Secretariat of Convention on Migratory Species (CMS) between June 26 and July 1.
The two officers have been nominated by the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change to participate in the meeting.
India is a party to the CMS and the meeting has been convened to attain various objectives related to Wild Ass, like to review its status and distribution, to identity the main threats facing it and to prepare an action plan for its
conservation.
