Amazon Prime Video is all set to release a feel-good family drama series titled Sweet Kaaram Coffee. The trailer of the series, created by Reshma Ghatala, was unveiled on Friday.

In the show, Lakshmi, Madhoo, and Santhy play three women from different generations, who are struggling to find a way out of their household burden. One fine day, the trio decide to run away from home leaving the men to fend for themselves and embark on a road trip that changes their lives forever.

The trailer promises that Sweet Kaaram Coffee will be filled with a lot of humour and emotional moments as the three women travel across India with limited means. They meet new people and reconnect with the old ones as they discover themselves during the journey. The series is reminiscent of a Tamil film, Magalir Mattum, directed by Bramma. Starring Jytoika, the 2017 film also had a similar premise about four women leaving their households for a road trip.

The show also marks the return of veteran actor Lakshmi to Kollywood, who was last seen in the film Moone Moonu Varthai (2015). While she acted in interesting Telugu projects like Oh Baby! and Gang Leader, it’s been a while since she worked in Tamil. The series also marks the Tamil debut of Santhy, known for her Malayalam films Jallikattu and Paapam Cheyyathavar Kalleriyatte. Santhy was last seen in the Hindi film Gulmohar.

The eight-part series is directed by Bejoy Nambiar, Krishna Marimuthu, and Swathi Raghuraaman, and has music by Govind Vasantha. It will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on July 6
