Actors Gippy Grewal and Sonam Bajwa’s new film, Carry On Jatta 3, has set the cash registers ringing in Punjab and other parts of the country. After a blockbuster opening day of Rs 4.55 crore, the film remained steady on its second day of release as well. According to early estimates, Carry On Jatta 3 earned Rs 3.60 crore on day 2.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk.com, the film has already reached a total collection of Rs 8.15 crore in just two days, which is the biggest two-day collection for a Punjabi-language film ever. Carry On Jatta 3 is on its way to becoming the highest-grossing Punjabi movie of the year even before the weekend has started. The film was released on Thursday.

Directed by Smeep Kang, the film is also performing well in other states. In Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, the film has collected Rs 70 lakh, as per Box Office India. The report also stated that the film has collected approximately Rs 30 lakh from other parts of the country. The film is clashing in theatres with Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani’s Satyaprem Ki Katha, and reportedly out-performed the Bollywood film in some theatres in Delhi.

The film’s oversees collections are expected to add strong numbers. Australia already crossed $100k mark on the opening day. The Carry On Jatta film franchise is credited for putting Punjabi cinema on the map. The first film released in 2012, and the second film released in 2018. The third installment seems to be carrying the baton with aplomb.

Sukhpreet Kahlon wrote in her review of the film, “The hallmark of the Carry On Jatta series has been the comedy and hilarious dialogues that are fondly remembered and repeated by audiences with much glee. In the third part too, the rib-tickling dialogues largely keep the momentum of the film going. Although the jokes are a bit silly, they are nonetheless topical and entertaining.”

Sonam, on Thursday, had expressed gratitude for the love that the film has received. She wrote, “Beyond grateful. Carry On Jatta 3 has smashed not just box office records but our belief system that said Punjabi cinema has limited reach and a small audience. My deepest and heartfelt thank you to the Punjabi film audiences and supporters all around the world for creating history. This is not just our victory but yours. Yours truly.”
