A doctor on duty at the government general hospital in Kochi was assaulted by two persons who were visiting a patient.
Police said Dr Harish Mohammed, 26, a house surgeon doing his internship at the hospital was attacked on Saturday by two allegedly inebriated men — Josmil and Roshan. Both accused have been arrested. According to the police, the duo teased a lady doctor at the cafeteria of the hospital. Dr Harish intervened, following which the men returned to the hospital and assaulted him.
Incidentally, Dr Harish was attacked on a day the country celebrates National Doctor’s Day.
Police said a case has been registered under provisions of Kerala Healthcare Service Persons and Healthcare Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Da-mage to Property) Act,2012.
