Jubilant Foodworks, which operates the popular Domino’s Pizza, Saturday launched a millet pizza base called ‘Ragi Super Crust’ in Ahmedabad — a first for the quick service restaurant in the country. The company plans to scale it up later across India.

The launch was attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel who also virtually laid the foundation stone for the Jubilant Food Processing Park at Sanand II Industrial Estate.

The pizza base will incorporate finger millet flour, wholewheat flour, plain oats and a blend of multiple seeds like flax seeds, watermelon seeds, pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds, said Hari Bhartia, co-chairman and director of Domino’s Pizza.

Domino’s Pizza operates 91 stores across 25 cities in Gujarat and is due to expand to 100 stores by the end of this year. Sameer Batra, president and chief business officer of Domino’s India, said the company has “tailored its offerings to meet the preferences of the customer base in Gujarat.

“Today, we offer not only a vegetarian-only menu but also an exclusive range of no onion, no garlic pizza for our customers in the state. Gujarat is the first market in the country where we are launching a new ragi super crust pizza,” Batra said.

“This encouragement to use and launch millet pizza base came from CM (Bhupendra Patel)… It will unlock untapped potential of millets promoting sustainable agriculture, food security,” Bhartia said.
