Actors Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani’s latest film Satyaprem Ki Katha was released in theatres on June 29. It had a decent start at the box office and saw a jump in earnings on the third day. The film earned Rs 9.25 crore and Rs 7 crore in the first two days, respectively. On the third day, it earned Rs 10.15 crore (early estimates), bringing the total collection to Rs 26.40 crore, reported industry tracker Sacnilk. On Saturday, the film had an overall 21.68% occupancy in Hindi.

Satyaprem Ki Katha became India’s sixth-highest opener for a Hindi film in 2023. The film received mixed reviews upon its release. However, it has performed way better than Kartik Aaryan’s previous release of the year, Shehzada, a remake of the Telugu movie Ala Vaikunthapurramloo. It had a first-day box office collection of Rs 7 crore and failed to impress the audience as it ended its run at the box office with Rs 32.20 cr.

Helmed by Sameer Vidhwans, Satyaprem Ki Katha also stars Gajraj Rao, Supriya Pathak, Siddharth Randheria, Anooradha Patel, Rajpal Yadav, Nirrmite Saawaant and Shikha Talsania.

Satyaprem Ki Katha doesn’t have any strong competition at the box office right now. Prabhas’ Adipurush, which could have been a strong competitor, has already been rejected by the audience. Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, with Sara Ali Khan and Vicky Kaushal in the lead roles, released four weeks ago and is almost out of the theaters after a good run.

The Indian Express’ film critic Shubhra Gupta gave Satyaprem Ki Katha two stars. A part of her review read, “The latest family drama starring Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani is an attempt to be radical while keeping it under wraps, hoping viewers will swallow the ‘brave’ stuff if it’s wrapped tightly enough in an ultra-bright red-and-yellow palette, Gujju bhais and bens doing dandiya, referencing endless iterations of ‘kem chos’ and ‘maaja maas’.”
