Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has once again taken to social media to express her thoughts on the industry, and this time she questioned the silence of the so-called ‘nepo gang’ on the day of Karan Johar’s directorial comeback, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani. On Friday, as the film hit the screens, Kangana shared a cryptic note on her Instagram handle, without naming anyone directly.
Known for her vocal criticism of nepotism in the film industry, Kangana Ranaut has had numerous public spats with filmmaker Karan Johar in the past. However, this time, her post was more cryptic, leaving it open to interpretation.
In her Instagram post, Kangana wrote, “Mere baare mein subah se ek bhi baseless negative news nahi aayi, mere fake quotes bhi media ko mass mail nahi kiye gaye, ya negative or damaging rumours about my projects or years old film scenes out of context use karke usko sexualise karke mujhe harass bhi nahi kiya ja raha… itna sannata kyu hai?? Kahi Lanka mein aag toh nahi lag gayi? Koi pata toh karo aaj nepo gang kaha busy hai?” (Since morning there is no baseless, negative news being reported about me, and no one has sent any fake quotes to the media. Neither any rumor is doing rounds about my project nor anyone is circulating my sexualized scenes from old films. Why so quiet? Someone should check what the nepo gang is up to).
While Kangana Ranaut has been a vocal critic of nepotism in Bollywood, she has often found herself embroiled in controversies due to her statements. Her post on Friday, however, seemed to point towards the lack of negative publicity against her on the day of Karan Johar’s film release, compared to her previous experiences.
Over the years, Kangana and Karan Johar have engaged in a series of public exchanges, starting with Kangana calling out Karan Johar for promoting nepotism in the industry during an episode of Koffee with Karan. This ignited a long-standing feud between the two personalities.
Earlier this month, Kangana Ranaut had also taken a dig at a ‘farzi (fake) couple’ who she claimed spread false news about movie announcements. Although no names were mentioned in the post, it was perceived by many as a reference to Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, who are often in the news for their relationship.
While Kangana Ranaut’s latest post did not explicitly mention Karan Johar or any specific individual, the timing of her message on the day of his film release has led to speculation about the intention behind her words.
The issue of nepotism in Bollywood has been a topic of debate and discussion for several years, with many actors and filmmakers expressing varied opinions on the matter. Kangana Ranaut’s vocal stance against nepotism and her willingness to question the workings of the film industry has made her a polarizing figure, drawing both admiration and criticism.
As Kangana Ranaut’s post continues to spark curiosity and discussions among fans and industry insiders, it remains to be seen if any responses or reactions will emerge from those she referred to as the ‘nepo gang’. Bollywood’s complex dynamics often come to the fore through social media exchanges, and this latest post by Kangana adds another layer of intrigue to the ongoing narrative around nepotism and insider-outsider dynamics in the Hindi film industry.
