Union Minister Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya states that healthcare is not considered a commercial enterprise in India.

The Union Health Minister, Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, stated that health is regarded as a service and not a commercial activity in India. He added that India does not consider any new innovation in the health sector as commerce but rather as a service. Dr. Mandaviya made these comments while speaking at an event in New Delhi on March 15, titled ‘One Health: Integrated, Collaborative Multisectoral Approach to Optimal Health’.

The Health Minister pointed out that the CoWIN app, which was developed by India for vaccination, has been widely accepted and adopted by many countries worldwide. He highlighted that the development of the CoWIN platform was intended to serve humanity, not to establish a monopoly.

India’s approach to health is unique, where the focus is on the wellbeing of the people rather than commercial gain. The government aims to provide accessible and affordable healthcare to all citizens of the country. Health is one of the primary sectors in India that has witnessed significant development and growth in recent years.
