Rohit Sharma, the Indian cricket team opener and captain of Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL), recently shared his thoughts on player workloads during the tournament. He stated that it is up to the franchises to manage the workload of the players, and that the players themselves need to be smart about their fitness and recovery.

The IPL is known for its grueling schedule, with teams playing 14 matches in a span of around six weeks. This puts a tremendous amount of physical and mental pressure on the players, who are expected to perform at their best in every game. In recent years, there have been concerns about the workload of Indian players during the IPL, as it can potentially impact their performance in international cricket.

Rohit, who is one of the most experienced players in the IPL, believes that the franchises have a crucial role to play in managing the workload of the players. Speaking to the media ahead of the upcoming season, he said, “It’s up to the franchises and how they want to go about with the workload of the players. As an individual, you need to be smart about how you manage your workload and recovery.”

Rohit’s comments come at a time when the Indian team is set to play a busy schedule in the coming months, including the World Test Championship final against New Zealand in June, followed by a five-match Test series against England. With the IPL taking place just a few months before these important fixtures.
