Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Topley exits tournament after shoulder injury
Topley landed awkwardly on his 2.01-metre (6 feet and 7 inch) frame on Monday while fielding against Mumbai Indians and left the ground

English cricketer Reece Topley has been dealt a major setback as he will be unable to participate in the Indian Premier League following a shoulder dislocation incident earlier this week. Royal Challengers Bangalore confirmed the news on Friday.

Topley suffered the injury on Monday during a fielding session against the Mumbai Indians. The fast bowler’s height of 2.01 metres (6 feet 7 inches) appears to have been a factor in his awkward landing. He has reportedly returned home for further medical attention, and a replacement for him is expected to be named shortly.

“Thank you for putting your body on the line and giving your 100%. We will miss you and wish you a speedy recovery, mate,” RCB tweeted on Friday. “Fearsome with the ball and fearless on the field! We don’t just call you top lad Topley for nothing.”

This injury is the second setback for the team in just a matter of days. Rajat Patidar, a top-order batter, was ruled out with a heel injury on Tuesday.

According to RCB coach Sanjay Bangar, spinner Wanindu Hasaranga and Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood could soon join the squad as replacements. However, the team has a 1-2 win-loss record so far this season, following their loss to Kolkata Knight Riders by 81 runs on Thursday evening.

Despite Topley’s absence, the Royal Challengers Bangalore team is determined to continue their successful season in the Indian Premier League. The team remains confident that the upcoming replacements will perform well and help them to achieve victory in future matches.
