After a three-year hiatus caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Indian Super Cup is back and this year, it is being held in Kerala. With 11 Indian Super League clubs and reigning I-League champions RoundGlass Punjab qualifying directly from the main draw, and the remaining five teams – Sreenidi Deccan, Aizawl FC, Gokulam Kerala, and Churchill Brothers – making it through the qualifiers, the competition promises to be fierce.

The 16 teams have been divided into four groups of four teams each for the group stage, with each team playing each other once in a round-robin format. The top team from each group will advance to the semi-finals on April 21 and 22. The tournament will be held at two venues – the EMS Corporation Stadium in Kozhikode and the Payyanad Stadium in Manjeri. The final will be played on April 25 in Kozhikode.

This year, the winner of the Indian Super Cup 2023 will face Gokulam Kerala, the 2021-22 I-League champions, in a playoff match for a spot in the group stages of the AFC Cup 2023-24.

With Mumbai City FC having already secured a spot in the AFC Champions League 2023-24 with a playoff win over Jamshedpur FC, if either Gokulam Kerala or Mumbai City FC win the Indian Super Cup title, the AFC Cup group stage berth will be awarded to Gokulam without the need for any playoff match.
