In a shocking incident, a man in Delhi was arrested for allegedly killing his girlfriend and then keeping her body in a refrigerator in his dhaba in Southwest Delhi for several hours before getting married to another woman. The incident took place in outer Delhi’s area. The incident came to light on Valentine’s Day and it was on the instance of the accused that the 23-year-old woman’s body was recovered on Tuesday morning from the refrigerator.
According to the police, the accused, identified as Sahil Gehlot, resident of Mitraon village in southwest Delhi, was in a relationship with the victim, identified as Nikki Yadav, for the a few years. The couple had been living together in a rented house.
On the day of the incident, Sahil allegedly had a heated argument with Nikki because the accused had hidden the fact from his girlfriend Nikki that his marriage was fixed with another woman. When Nikki came to know about his wedding, the fight which turned violent, and he strangled her to death using the data cable of his mobile phone in his car. He then placed her body in a refrigerator and left the place.
The police said that a few hours later, Sahil got married to another woman in a nearby area. However, the wedding was called off after the bride’s family discovered that Sahil had kept his former girlfriend’s body in the refrigerator. “It has been claimed that Nikki was threatening to implicate the man in a case if he married another woman,” cops says.
The police were informed about the incident, and they reached the spot to investigate. They found the victim’s body in the refrigerator and arrested Sahil. The police have charged Sahil with murder and have started an investigation into the case. The victim’s body has been sent for post-mortem, and the report is awaited.
“During interrogation, the accused initially tried to mislead police, but later he disclosed that he had killed his girlfriend on the intervening night of February 9 and 10 and kept her body in a refrigerator at his dhaba,” the officer said.
Revealing about his association with Nikki, the officer said that the accused told investigators that he was preparing for SSC exams at a coaching centre in Uttam Nagar in January, 2018. At that time, the victim, resident of Jhajjar in Haryana, was also preparing for medical entrance examination from an institute in Uttam Nagar.
