Aamir Khan, the Bollywood superstar, has been receiving praise on social media for his sportsmanship in taking a joke on himself regarding the failure of his last film, Laal Singh Chaddha, in a recent Dream11 advertisement. In the advertisement, Indian cricketer Jasprit Bumrah teases Aamir for the failure of the film, to which Aamir responds by telling Bumrah to bowl carefully as he gives ‘bade bade hits (big hits)’ with his bat.

The advertisement is part of a series of Dream11 commercials featuring Aamir Khan during the Indian Premier League (IPL) matches. The commercials have been well-received, with many Twitter users impressed by Aamir’s willingness to poke fun at himself. Producer Atul Kasbekar took to Twitter to commend Aamir for his self-deprecating humor, stating that it endears him to the audience and is a rare trait among most superstars.

Aamir’s Dream11 ads have also sparked conversation about his career and reputation as an actor. Many have praised him for his ability to take a joke on himself and his willingness to be open about his successes and failures. One Twitter user commended Aamir for taking jokes on his absence from award shows and the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha, stating that it shows how sporty he is.

The movie, which took over a decade to produce and three years to make, is projected to earn just Rs. 60 crore in its lifetime collection, making it one of Aamir’s worst-performing films in a decade. Despite earning around Rs. 4.65 crore in its second weekend, the total collection of the movie has only reached Rs. 55 crore, according to Box Office India. Laal Singh Chaddha has even performed worse than Aamir’s previous film Thugs of Hindostan, which at least opened with Rs. 55 crore.

The film collected Rs. 1.25 crore on Friday, Rs. 1.50 crore on Saturday, and Rs. 1.90 crore on Sunday, which is not much considering its hype and marketing. However, the film has performed relatively better overseas, and it has crossed the Rs. 100 crore mark worldwide on its second Friday.

Another film, Raksha Bandhan, starring Akshay Kumar, was released on the same day as Laal Singh Chaddha, and it too is struggling at the box office. The film has only earned around Rs. 4 crore in its second weekend, and its total collection stands at Rs. 41 crore, making it Akshay’s third consecutive flop this year.

With Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Panday’s movie, Liger, releasing this week, the shows of Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan might be canceled altogether. It seems like the battle at the box office will be fierce in the coming weeks.

Laal Singh Chaddha’s poor performance can be attributed to several reasons, including a hate campaign against the movie before its release. Netizens dug up an old video of Aamir speaking about intolerance in India in 2015, which fueled the anti-Bollywood wave that has been growing in recent years. Along with that, the film received mixed reviews, which didn’t help its case either.

However, Aamir Khan is not the only Bollywood actor to suffer from poor box office collections. Several movies have struggled to perform well this year, including big-budget films like Sooryavanshi and Radhe. Many experts believe that the COVID-19 pandemic and the emergence of streaming services have affected the movie business significantly.

Laal Singh Chaddha was directed by Advait Chandan and starred Aamir Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Mona Singh, and Naga Chaitanya. The film, which was the official Hindi remake of Tom Hanks’ critically acclaimed film Forrest Gump, received mixed reviews from critics and collected ₹129.64 crore gross at the worldwide box office.

Overall, Aamir Khan’s Dream11 ads have been well-received by viewers, with many commending him for his willingness to take a joke on himself and his self-deprecating humor. Aamir’s reputation as an actor and his openness about his successes and failures have also been praised by fans on social media.
