In the realm of experiential design, where creativity meets innovation, Aaquib Wani emerges as a trailblazer. As the Founder and Creative Director of Aaquib Wani Design, his journey is one marked by a harmonious fusion of music, art, and a relentless pursuit of design excellence.
Wani’s early inclination toward music and art during his school days foreshadowed a career that transcends traditional design boundaries. As the lead guitarist of the thrash metal band Phobia, he cultivated a dedicated following and discovered his artistic prowess. His design journey began organically, starting with creating identity and posters for his band, eventually expanding to designing album covers and merchandise for other musical talents.
The pivotal year of 2014 saw the evolution of Wani’s career. Transitioning from the music scene, he joined the esteemed design studio Scenografia Sumant. Initially overwhelmed by the diverse demands of the design world, Wani embraced the challenge and swiftly moved from 2D to 3D design, mastering the intricate balance of scale, range, and complexity demanded by various projects.
Sumant Jayakrishnan, founder of Scenografia Sumant, attests to Wani’s rapid adaptation, stating, “He engaged with the work quickly with tenacity and persistence and soon mastered working in different scales of work.”
In 2018, fueled by a desire to push the boundaries of experiential design, Wani embarked on his entrepreneurial journey, establishing Aaquib Wani Design. The studio’s core philosophy revolves around integrating technology seamlessly into experiential design, elevating it to new heights. A focus on sustainability underscores all their creations, ensuring a holistic and responsible design approach.
Wani’s portfolio is a testament to his flair for the unconventional. From crafting limited edition hand-painted customized jackets for global brands like Levi’s, Adidas, and Gas to orchestrating the craft mela bazaar for Isha Ambani’s wedding, his repertoire is diverse and impactful. Notable projects include building monumental installations on hilltops for the NH7 Weekender and creating a space-themed anti-gravity experience for the launch of Adidas’s Ultraboost 20 sneakers. His clientele extends to renowned names like Coca-Cola, United Nations, and MG Motors.
Sumant Jayakrishnan praises Wani’s hunger for learning and his ability to expand horizons. Aaquib Wani, through Aaquib Wani Design, stands as a beacon in the design landscape, where each creation is not just a visual spectacle but an immersive experience that captivates and resonates with audiences.
