Adhir moves HC, seeks relief for victims

Claiming that “a pre-planned genocide” took place in West Bengal “in the name of panchayat elections,” state Congress president Adhir Chowdhury in a petition filed in the Calcutta High Court has sought compensation to the victims of the poll violence and an investigation by an “independent agency”.

The petition was filed before the Bench of Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam. In his plea, he accused State Election Commission of “colluding” with the TMC government to “deliberately” fail in discharging their duty.
