Ameesha Patel, who is set to be back on screen with Gadar 2 has been courting controversies. She first revealed a spoiler from her upcoming film with Sunny Deol leaving fans upset. The actor then took on Anil Sharma Productions, claiming how they mismanaged everything during shoot, and Zee Studios had to take over. The Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai actor has now opened up about her relationship with Vikram Bhatt and Kanav Puri, and why she chose to be single after these two relationships.

The actor in an interview with Bollywood Hungama said that things were difficult for her in the film industry as she was ‘too honest’ and that has been a drawback for her. “In this industry, honesty is not welcome. And I am too honest. For me, everything is black and white. It’s what you see, what you get. I wear my heart on my sleeves and don’t think (from my mind). That’s the biggest drawback for me.”

As she was asked if her relationship, especially with Vikram Bhatt helped her career, Ameesha dismissed the same to add, “The relationships that had.. both were public. Those were the only ones I ever had and wasn’t involved with anyone else. They took a beating on my career.

Ameesha added that after she ended her last relationship, she chose to be single for the next 12-13 years. Elaborating on the same, she said, “The single status of a girl is more attractive for people working around you and the audience. If a heroine is dating a hero, she continues getting work as they can work together. For me, that was not the case. It thus took a beating, but it’s okay, you learn from it.”

Ameesha Patel started dating Vikram Bhatt after working with him on Aap Mujhe Acche Lagne Lage. They broke up in 2008, post which she was in a relationship with London-based businessman Kanav Puri. The two parted ways in 2010.
