In a society where many believe that success only comes with a prestigious education and substantial financial resources, Anjum Jung’s story serves as an inspiration for those who believe in the power of perseverance and determination. Her path has been marked by overcoming obstacles, maintaining a steadfast focus, and pursuing excellence without compromise.

Anjum Jung, the founder of Morph Design, an interior design firm based in Bangalore, has a story of grit, determination, and unwavering hard work. The organization has developed into one of the most reputable design studios in the nation, serving well-known customers worldwide and boasting a long list of national and international honors.

Having completed her B.Com., Anjum, who found accounting and commerce uninteresting, ventured into interior design, which she describes as her first wild card. Inheriting ten carpenters from a friend, Anjum started manufacturing furniture from her parent’s garage, selling it piece by piece to family and friends. She didn’t have a formal education in design during those early years; instead, she relied on her natural skills and core abilities to swiftly integrate into the sector. As the numbers started building up, the garage began to seem too small, prompting Anjum to find a larger space. She moved to Hennur and opened her manufacturing unit, which has now evolved into an extensive manufacturing hub.

Morph Design, initially established as an interior design division for their in-house requirements, has now transformed into a comprehensive interior design company that caters to external clients. They offer a complete solution, handling everything from design to execution, and boast a diverse portfolio of work spanning across apartments, villas, clubhouses, spas, resorts, and hotels. Anjum explains that each project demands a unique approach, and the firm has collaborated with top architecture companies such as Dileonardo, Woods Bagot, HBA, MAP, and SRSS to deliver exceptional results, including massive projects spanning over 2.5 million sq ft (roughly a quarter million sq m). Morph has been recognized with numerous accolades for their excellent work across various sectors.

Anjum considers the Deco and Nouveau era styles to be very influential and sources of inspiration for her work. With Morph, she used a bottom-up organizational design approach and was in charge of project management, company development, diversification, and other crucial executive duties. Anjum Jung draws inspiration for her work from a wide range of both classic and modern sources. She strongly believes that continual growth and progress are key to achieving sustained success, which is why she fearlessly integrates innovative materials into her projects, teams up with emerging artists, and experiments with novel methods and styles.

Anjum’s design philosophy centers on creating spaces tailored to her clients’ needs and lifestyles. She believes that a well-designed space reflects the client’s personality and enhances their well-being. Anjum’s designs are about creating a visually stunning space and ensuring that it functions efficiently and meets the client’s requirements.

Because of Anjum’s choice to vertically integrate the company and her belief in the highest standards of uniqueness and quality that put its rivals in the dust, Morph has become a market leader. This relentless pursuit of perfection has resulted in the development of a vast collection of exceptional residential, hospitality, retail, and commercial properties. Ms. Anjum Jung and her team at Morph Design Co. were recognized for their exceptional work and received the Highly Commended Leisure Development Award in 2012.

Anjum’s journey has been one of serendipitous moments and uncompromising hard work. Anjum comes from a traditional Muslim household and is the youngest of her four siblings. Her life was mainly centered around her brothers. With encouragement from her father, Anjum would travel and read, which has been a significant influence on her work.

Anjum set out to establish MDC with her brothers in 1993, determined to make a name for themselves in an industry predominantly occupied by men. Today, after 23 years of hard work, dedication, and growth, her team has expanded to 30 members, and her company has grown to a value of Rs. 200 crore.Despite this success, Anjum remains committed to working closely with every project and putting in 100% effort. She describes her team as “a bunch of kids,” but she loves what she does and is an obsessive perfectionist who refuses to deliver anything to a client that she wouldn’t be proud to live in herself.

Anjum Jung’s life is a testimony that anything is possible with determination, passion, and hard work. Her incredible achievements demonstrate that one’s origins, gender, or social standing are not barriers to realizing one’s ambitions. She has paved the way for other aspiring designers to follow, making her an inspiration and a pioneer in her field.
