In a strategic move, IT giant Wipro Ltd announced the appointment of Aparna C Iyer as its Chief Financial Officer (CFO), effective immediately. Aparna Iyer succeeds Jatin Dalal, who has decided to step down from his role as CFO to explore new career opportunities. This significant transition was disclosed by the Bengaluru-based IT firm, marking a pivotal moment in Wipro’s leadership landscape.

Aparna Iyer, who will report directly to CEO Thierry Delaporte, will also join the Wipro Executive Board, bringing a wealth of experience and financial acumen to her new role. Thierry Delaporte, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Wipro Limited, expressed confidence in Aparna’s abilities, stating, “Aparna is an accomplished and results-driven leader. Throughout her 20-year career with Wipro, she has been a dynamic, forward-thinking strategic partner to our business leaders.”

Delaporte further highlighted Aparna’s contributions to Wipro’s financial transformation, emphasizing her pivotal role in shaping the company’s financial strategy, planning, investment programs, and transformation initiatives. “Her commitment to creating lasting value, expertise across the full spectrum of finance operations, and her experience in working with a range of stakeholders will be instrumental in achieving our financial objectives,” he added.

Jatin Dalal, the outgoing CFO, has been an integral part of Wipro’s financial leadership since assuming the role in 2015. While announcing the transition, Thierry Delaporte also expressed gratitude for Dalal’s contributions to the company over the years. “I also want to thank Jatin for his contributions to Wipro over his tenure and wish him the best in his future endeavors,” Delaporte remarked.

The change in CFO leadership positions Wipro for continued growth and innovation in the dynamic IT industry. Aparna Iyer, with her extensive experience within the organization, is well-equipped to steer the company toward achieving its financial goals and building on its successes.

Aparna Iyer’s journey with Wipro began in April 2003, and she has since held various critical finance roles within the company. Her areas of expertise span Internal Audit, Business Finance, Finance Planning and Analysis, Corporate Treasury and Investor Relations, and, most recently, Senior Vice President and CFO of Wipro FullStride Cloud. With a deep understanding of financial risk management, capital allocation, fund raising, and driving business strategy and growth, Aparna Iyer is ideally positioned to guide Wipro through its transformation journey.

Expressing her enthusiasm about her new role, Aparna Iyer stated, “I am thrilled to take on the role of CFO at this important juncture for Wipro. As we continue our transformation journey, I look forward to working with Thierry, our finance team, and the entire organization to build on our successes, drive sustainable growth, and create value for our stakeholders.”

Aparna Iyer is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and distinguished herself as a gold medalist in the CA 2002 batch, showcasing her exceptional financial expertise and dedication to her field.

The transition to a new CFO comes at a time when Wipro is striving to adapt to the evolving IT landscape and leverage its strengths for sustainable growth. The appointment of Aparna Iyer represents a seamless transition that ensures continuity and stability in the company’s financial leadership.

On the stock market front, Wipro’s shares have seen a modest rise of slightly over 9% this year. It’s important to note that this performance, while commendable, has lagged behind the broader Nifty IT index, which has witnessed a 15% rise during the same period.

In summary, Aparna Iyer’s appointment as CFO of Wipro signifies a strategic move to steer the company toward financial growth and success. Her extensive experience, financial acumen, and deep-rooted understanding of Wipro’s operations position her as a dynamic leader who will contribute to the company’s continued transformation and value creation for stakeholders. As Aparna Iyer takes on her new role, Wipro looks to the future with optimism, ready to navigate the challenges and opportunities of the ever-evolving IT industry.
