President Droupadi Murmu is set to embark on a six-day tour of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Lakshadweep, starting with her arrival in Kochi tomorrow. This will be her first visit to Kerala and Lakshadweep since taking office as the President of India. Upon her arrival at Cochin International Airport, the President will head to Naval Air Station INS Garuda. She will then proceed to the Cochin Shipyard to visit the indigenously built Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant, where she will interact with the officers and sailors on board.
Later in the day, President Murmu will award the President’s Colours to INS Dronacharya, the gunnery school of the Indian Navy at Fort Kochi. As part of the ceremony, she will also release a Special Cover to commemorate the occasion. After the ceremony, she will depart for Thiruvananthapuram, where she will spend the night at a private hotel.
The following morning, the President will visit the Mata Amrithanandamayi Math in Kollam before returning to Thiruvananthapuram for a civic reception. During her visit, she will also inaugurate a number of programmes, including Unnathi, a scheme for the comprehensive development of Scheduled Tribe citizens. In keeping with the National Education Policy 2020, the President will be presented with the first copy of technical engineering and diploma books translated into Malayalam.
On Saturday, President Murmu will visit the Vivekananda Smarak and Thiruvallur Statue at Kanyakumari before returning to Thiruvananthapuram later that day. The following day, she will interact with self-help groups in Kavaratti and visit Bangaram Island. She will then depart for New Delhi via Kochi on March 21st.
