Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Anil Parab, who was booked for allegedly assaulting a civic engineer, and six others moved an anticipatory bail plea with the sessions court. The court is expected to hear the pleas on Friday.

In the plea filed through lawyer Rahul Arote, Parab and others said they planned to visit the ward office H (East) on June 26 and informed Vakola police, requesting proper security. During the visit, civic authorities at the ward office were asked about the demolition of the Shiv Sena shakha office in Bandra East.

The complainant in the case, a divisional executive engineer, said that some of the accused slapped and manhandled him and another person at the ward office.

Parab’s plea states that he was falsely implicated and that they had gone to the ward office to espouse the cause of the general public.

“The applicants state that due to the current political situation in the state of Maharashtra, the Shiv Sena Party (Udhav faction) is being targeted by the rival political party in order to gain political mileage in the state of Maharashtra.

The applicant states that with the help of some political leaders and in collusion with government officials, party workers are implicated in false and frivolous cases,” the plea states.
