Anubhav Sinha’s latest directorial venture, Bheed, depicts the struggles of migrant workers who were forced to return to their hometowns due to the nationwide lockdown imposed in 2020, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. The film follows the journey of multiple characters as they navigate the early stages of the lockdown. However, despite its social relevance and star-studded cast, the film is not performing well at the box office after its release on March 24.

Bheed, which also features Dia Mirza, Ashutosh Rana, Pankaj Kapur, and Kritika Kamra in prominent roles, received a poor opening on its first day and continued to struggle on its fourth day, March 27. The film reportedly earned only 20 lakh on its fourth day, taking its total box office collection to Rs 1.95 crore. Early estimates suggest that the film had an overall Hindi occupancy of only 3.54% on March 27.

Bheed faces stiff competition from Hollywood release John Wick, which is performing much better at the box office. Even films such as Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway and Tu Jhooti Main Makkaar, which were released in the previous weeks, are performing better than Bheed.

Anubhav Sinha has written, directed, and produced Bheed, which is a fictional story set during the Covid-19 lockdown in India. The film stars Rajkummar Rao in the lead role alongside Bhumi Pednekar, Dia Mirza, Ashutosh Rana, Pankaj Kapur, and Kritika Kamra. Bheed portrays the largest migration in India that occurred during the lockdown of 2020 and depicts how several characters deal with the lockdown and migrate to a safer place. The music for the film is composed by Anurag Saikia.

Despite its social relevance and star-studded cast, Bheed seems to be struggling to attract audiences to the cinemas. The poor box office collections indicate that the film is not resonating with audiences, and it remains to be seen whether it will pick up in the coming weeks.
