The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced changes in the pattern of the Class 10 and Class 12 board examinations from 2024 onwards. The board has decided to increase the number of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and decrease the number of subjective questions. The move is aimed at making the examination process more objective and reducing the scope for errors in the evaluation process.
According to the new pattern, 40% of the total marks will be allocated to MCQs, while 60% of the marks will be for subjective questions. Additionally, the weightage of competency-based questions has also been increased from 10% to 30%. This will encourage students to focus more on developing their problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, rather than just rote learning.
The CBSE has also announced that the exams will be conducted in two parts – term 1 and term 2. The first term will be conducted in November-December and will cover around 50% of the syllabus. The second term will be held in March-April and will cover the remaining syllabus. The weightage of marks for both terms will be 50-50.
This move has been welcomed by several education experts and teachers as it will help students prepare for the exams in a more structured and focused manner. The increased weightage of competency-based questions will also encourage students to develop a better understanding of the subject matter, rather than just memorizing it for the exams.
The CBSE board has made some major changes in the exam pattern for the year 2024. As per the latest update, the board exams for Class X and XII would have a higher number of multiple-choice questions (MCQs) and more competency-based questions. The decision to increase the weightage of MCQs and competency-based questions has been taken to ensure that students are better prepared for competitive exams like JEE, NEET, and others.
As per the new guidelines, the weightage of competency-based questions has been increased from 20% to 30% for the Class X board exams and from 10% to 30% for the Class XII board exams. This means that students would now be required to have a better understanding of the subject and should be able to apply the concepts they have learned to real-life situations.
The board has also decided to increase the number of MCQs in the board exams. As per the new guidelines, the weightage of MCQs has been increased from 10% to 20% for the Class X board exams and from 10% to 33% for the Class XII board exams. This means that students would now have to be better prepared for MCQs and would need to have a better understanding of the subject to be able to answer these questions.
The new exam pattern is expected to make the board exams more competitive and would help students to better prepare for competitive exams like JEE, NEET, and others. The board has also said that the new exam pattern would help in reducing the burden on students and would help them to focus on their studies more effectively.
The CBSE board has also said that it would be providing detailed guidelines to schools and teachers regarding the new exam pattern. The board has also said that it would be conducting training sessions for teachers to help them prepare students for the new exam pattern.
In conclusion, the new exam pattern for the CBSE board exams for 2024 is a step in the right direction. The increased weightage of competency-based questions and MCQs would help students to better prepare for competitive exams and would help in reducing the burden on them. The board has also taken steps to provide detailed guidelines and training to teachers to help them prepare students for the new exam pattern.
