Va Tech Wabag, a leading water technology firm, has recently achieved a significant milestone by securing a substantial order valued at approximately Rs 420 crore. The order entails the design, construction, and operation of a water treatment plant (VVTP) in Jite, Raigad, with an impressive capacity of 270 million litres per day (MLD). The project has been awarded by the City and Industrial Development Corporation of Maharashtra Limited (CIDCO) and is poised to play a crucial role in meeting the future water demand of Navi Mumbai.

The water treatment plant will be responsible for treating water from the Hetwane dam, which will then be channeled to the existing master balancing reservoir (MBR) located at Vihal for further distribution. With the rising population and urban development in Navi Mumbai, the demand for clean and potable water has been steadily increasing. Hence, the construction of the 270 MLD WTP is of utmost importance to ensure a sustainable water supply for the region.

The comprehensive scope of the project includes multiple phases, starting with the design and engineering stages. Va Tech Wabag will be responsible for supplying the necessary equipment, constructing the plant, and overseeing the installation and commissioning processes. The entire project is expected to be completed within a span of 42 months from the commencement date. Subsequently, Va Tech Wabag will also be responsible for the operation and maintenance (O&M) of the plant for a duration of 15 years.
