Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Union Ministers Mansukh Mandaviya, Sarbananda Sonowal, Shripad Naik and Shantanu Thakur Sunday reviewed the work on the National Maritime Heritage Complex being built near Lothal in Ahmedabad, stated an official release Sunday.
The complex is being built with an aim to revive the rich maritime heritage of Lothal at Rs 4,500 crore, the release added.
In the meeting held in Gandhinagar, CM Patel said that to expedite the project for the economic, industrial and tourism development of the region around Lothal, the state government has formed a Lothal Area Development Authority.
He also added that the state government has allocated 375 acres for the project. For the development of infrastructure outside the complex, the government has allocated Rs 147 crore. This money is going to be spent on roads, water and electricity in the region.
According to the release, during the meeting, progress on the project and the under construction works were discussed. During the meeting, the Indian Navy and Indian Port Rail and Ropeway Corporation also signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of a Navy Gallery at the complex.
