A Congress councillor was booked for allegedly assaulting his neighbours — a woman and her ailing father — in Moradabad after she requested him to turn off the loud music he was playing at his house late Tuesday night, police said on Thursday.
The woman said as Parvez alias Nanhe, the councillor from Ward No. 41 in Asalatpura of the Moradabad Municipal Corporation, who was having a party at his house in Langdi Ki Pulia, did not respond to her request to turn off the music, police reached the spot and asked him to turn off the music.
“My father is a heart patient. I waited till 10 pm, hoping they would turn off the loud music. But when it did happen, I went to Parvez’s house and told him about my father’s medical condition, but to no avail. Hence, I informed the police,” she said. “As soon as police left, the councillor and a dozen others barged into my house. They beat me up, tore my clothes and dragged me to the street. They also attacked my ailing father when he came to my rescue,” she told The Indian Express.
“We have booked seven people, including the councillor, but no arrests have been made, so far,” Galshaheed police station in-charge Mohit Kazla said.
