Dubai’s esteemed Jumeirah Hotels Group is gearing up to establish new properties in India by 2030, with ambitious expansion plans outlined by senior company executives. As part of its global growth strategy, Jumeirah Group aims to double its existing global footprint from 27 properties to over 50 in the next seven years, and India is firmly on its radar as a key market for luxury accommodations.
Kirti Anchan, General Manager of Jumeirah Emirates Towers and Jumeirah Living, shared insights during a hotel roadshow in Ahmedabad. The company has conducted similar roadshows in Delhi and Ahmedabad, with plans to explore potential locations in Mumbai for its upcoming property.
Anchan noted, “We will make an announcement in due time. Currently, our development team is evaluating various parameters to come up with a property in India. We are exploring major metro cities as well as tourist locations to set up our new property here.” The decision to expand into India aligns with the company’s recognition of the country’s increasing population, growing awareness among Indian travelers, and rising travel expenditure. The demand for luxury accommodations is on the rise, driven by the increasing aspirations of tourists.
Metropolitan cities in India are among Jumeirah’s preferred choices for its new properties, with a focus on Tier-I markets and the creation of uber-luxury offerings. Linda Lewis, Vice President of Global Sales for the Middle East, Africa, and Asia Pacific at Jumeirah Group, emphasized the significance of India as a market, stating, “We aim to reach 50+ properties by 2030. We cannot ignore India as a market. In fact, some 20% of the total tourists and visitors arriving in Dubai are from Gujarat.”
Ahmedabad, in particular, has gained international recognition for its rapid development and prominence in international exhibitions and networking events. Jumeirah Group acknowledges the city’s potential and is considering it as a potential location for their upcoming properties.
Anchan highlighted that their luxury brand aims to create the right properties in the right locations, catering to both domestic and international guests. As Jumeirah Hotels Group sets its sights on expanding its presence in India, it seeks to offer top-tier accommodations that meet the evolving needs and expectations of travelers in the region.
