A major fire broke out in a diamond firm in Surat on Friday morning. It took a couple of hours for firefighters to put down the flames at Hare Krishna Exports, a diamond firm owned by Padma Shri recipient Savji Dholakia, officials said. No casualties were reported in the incident.
“The fire incident occurred due to a short circuit. No casualties were reported. Over 12 firemen from two fire stations reached the spot. The loss is still being assessed. The room which caught fire is the office of the Radhey building Unit head,” Surat Municipal Corporation fire officer Sampat Suthar said. The incident was said to have been reported at around 8:30 am.
