Hyundai Motor Achieves Record-Breaking Monthly Sales in September with 71,641 Units

In a remarkable feat, Hyundai Motor India, the country’s second-largest carmaker, reported its highest-ever monthly sales in September, with a total of 71,641 units sold. This significant milestone reflects a 13% increase in total wholesales compared to the same period last year. The company’s stellar performance can be attributed to the continued growth in domestic sales, which rose by 9% to 54,241 units, as well as a remarkable 29% surge in exports to 17,400 units. The robust sales figures are a testament to Hyundai’s strong sales momentum and the festive season’s positive impact.

Hyundai Motor India, a prominent player in the Indian automotive industry, has achieved an extraordinary milestone in September by recording its highest-ever monthly sales. The company reported total wholesales of 71,641 units, marking a remarkable 13% increase compared to the same period in the previous year. In September 2022, Hyundai dispatched 63,201 units to dealers, making this year’s performance even more impressive. The company’s domestic sales witnessed a noteworthy surge, reaching 54,241 units, reflecting a robust 9% growth compared to September 2022 when 49,700 units were sold. Furthermore, Hyundai Motor India reported a substantial increase in exports, with 17,400 units shipped in September, marking a remarkable 29% increase from the previous year’s figure of 13,501 units.

Hyundai’s Chief Operating Officer, Tarun Garg, highlighted the company’s outstanding performance in the context of industry-wide trends. He noted, “While the industry grew by 2% last month, our domestic dispatches were up 9%. The share of SUV sales in our overall volumes continues to grow.” Garg attributed this impressive growth to the ongoing festive season, which has generated strong sales momentum for the company.

Garg also emphasized the positive reception received by Hyundai’s SUV portfolio, particularly the newly launched Exter, a micro SUV. He revealed that the company has received an overwhelming response with over 80,000 bookings for the Exter, further bolstering Hyundai’s strong SUV lineup. Currently, SUVs account for more than 65% of the company’s domestic sales.

Despite facing challenges such as high interest rates and inflation in the market, Hyundai Motor India remains optimistic about its sales performance for the year. Garg expressed the company’s confidence in achieving a 9% year-on-year sales growth over the previous year by the end of 2023. Hyundai’s order backlog currently stands at an impressive 1.15 lakh units, reflecting strong demand for its vehicles.
