If someone abuses my family, I will surely react: Yashasvi Jaiswal

Yashasvi Jaiswal who recently got his maiden call up to the Indian Test squad for the West Indies tour, comes across as a rather level-headed person. But in a rare instance of controversy, he was asked to leave the field last year by West Zone captain Ajinkya Rahane during a Duleep Trophy match because South Zone batter Ravi Teja had apparently complained about the verbal volleys that Jaiswal was consistently firing at him.

Jaiswal has always waved away the questions regarding the incident saying in a recent interaction with The Lallantop that there was no use talking about an incident that had happened in the past. When prodded further by the anchor, he said, “Aggression is important and I am very aggressive mentally. That shows sometimes I guess. But I didn’t say anything out of the ordinary that time but it’s okay. What’s the use of talking about it.”

Asked if he’ll show his aggressive side if he plays a Test match against England and Australia, he said,” I don’t want to say anything. I would rather keep it with me, absorb it like a sponge. When I need to squeeze it, I will.”

Talking about sledging in general, Jaiswal said that it happens to everyone, regardless of where and which level of cricket one is playing in.

“It happens to everyone. No one really comes to know about it. It depends upon who is saying what. Bhai mereko koi mere maa behen ke baare me bolega, main thodi sununga (If someone says things about my mother or my sister, I won’t tolerate it),” the young batter said.
