A 22-year-old IGNOU student and his friend were allegedly attacked by a group of five to six men who were allegedly angry with the duo for overtaking their SUV, in Gurgaon’s Baliawas area Wednesday.

According to the complaint by the victim, Raja, he was headed to Gwal Pahari with his friend Praveen when, around 4.30 pm, a Baleno vehicle stopped in front of their four-wheeler.

“About five or six boys got down from the vehicle. One of them took out a stick from the car and hit me on the head, waist and left leg. Another boy hit Praveen on the left leg and left hand, and his friends slapped us. They said if we don’t give space for their vehicle to pass, they will kill us,” the complainant said.

The duo was later admitted to a hospital and their MLCs conducted.

An FIR under IPC sections 148 (rioting), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 341 (wrongful restraint) and 506 (criminal intimidation) has been registered at DLF Phase 1 police station against unknown accused. No arrest has been made yet, police said.

An officer privy to the case said that they were checking CCTV cameras and questioning the villagers. “The victims had overtaken the vehicle and the accused got riled up due to this. The injuries sustained by the boys are minor. We are trying to nab the accused,” he said.
