Agricultural and Process Food Export Development Authority (APEDA) is participating in the 28th edition of Gulfood 2023, which is being held in the United Arab Emirates. Gulfood is a global platform that connects the food and beverage industry, providing ample opportunities to Indian exporters. The India Pavilion at Gulfood 2023 was inaugurated by the Union Minister for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Pashupati Kumar Paras.

The Agricultural and Process Food Export Development Authority (APEDA) is the government organization responsible for promoting the export of agricultural and processed food products from India. APEDA has been actively participating in Gulfood for several years now, and this year’s event is no exception. The theme for the India Pavilion at Gulfood 2023 is “Flavors of India,” which showcases the diverse culinary traditions and rich heritage of Indian cuisine.

The India Pavilion at Gulfood 2023 will feature a wide range of food products, including fresh fruits and vegetables, spices, meat and poultry, dairy products, and processed foods. Indian food products have gained popularity worldwide due to their unique taste, quality, and affordability. Indian exporters participating in Gulfood 2023 will have an opportunity to showcase their products to international buyers, retailers, and distributors.

In his inaugural address, Pashupati Kumar Paras emphasized the importance of the food and beverage sector in India’s economy. He highlighted the government’s initiatives to promote the export of agricultural and processed food products from India. The Union Minister also emphasized the need for quality and safety standards in the food and beverage industry, and the government’s efforts to ensure compliance with international standards.

APEDA is organizing promotions, tasting campaigns, sampling of millet products & biriyani, arranging B2B interactions between start-ups, and exporters with identified Supermarkets, and awareness cum capacity-building programs. There are for Startups, FPOs, and Exporters in Millets producing States, mobilizing start-ups for export promotion of value-added products in the Ready-to-Eat (RTE) and Ready-to-Serve (RTS) categories such as flour, noodles, pasta, flakes, pancakes, ready to eat breakfast cereals mix, biscuits, cookies, snacks, sweets, ready to cook mixes like dosa, idly, khichri, daliya, etc.

In Gulfood organized from 20th to 24th February 2023, there is the participation of 5000 companies from 125 countries. In the International Year of Millets (IYOM) 2023, India is participating in GULFOOD with the theme focused on the export promotion of millets and its value-added products. Indian Pavilion is promoting around 100 delegations of exporters. A Millet gallery has been prepared to showcase Millets and its products by the start-ups and new entrepreneurs to provide them a platform to showcase their quality products. APEDA has signed an MoU with the Government of UAE through its nodal agency Al Dhara Holding SP LLC for procurement of food and food products from India as well as to sell to buyers in UAE.

The India Pavilion at Gulfood 2023 is expected to generate significant business opportunities for Indian exporters. The event provides a platform for Indian exporters to meet potential buyers, understand market trends, and explore new business opportunities. The participation of Indian exporters in Gulfood 2023 is expected to contribute to India’s goal of achieving $60 billion in agricultural and processed food exports by 2022.
