The 23-year-old opening batsman is determined to seal those victories as well by batting till the end. After Gujarat’s win against the Punjab Kings, where Gill made 67 before being bowled by Sam Curran in the final over, he expressed his desire to finish the game himself.

Gill has been the most productive batsman for Gujarat this season, with 183 runs from four matches, including two half-centuries, making him the fifth highest run-scorer in the tournament. He believes he should have finished the match against Punjab, as the wicket got tougher to score boundaries on towards the end.

The right-hander has established himself as an all-format player for India, with seven international hundreds to his name, including a remarkable 208 in a one-day international against New Zealand in January. His unbeaten 126 off 63 balls against New Zealand in February is also the highest individual score in a T20 International by an Indian batsman.

Former Test batsman Sanjay Manjrekar has suggested that Gill should develop himself into a finisher, taking inspiration from former India captains Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Virat Kohli, who are known for staying at the crease till the end of the innings and finishing games. “That’s how you become a great batsman,” Manjrekar told Cricinfo website. “You’ve got all the talent. I mean, the guy drives off the front foot and then pulls with such authority.”

Despite being Gujarat’s most prolific batsman this season and fifth in the list of leading scorers with 183 runs from four matches, including two half-centuries, Gill believes there’s room for improvement. “The wicket got tougher towards the end. It was difficult to score boundaries,” he said.

That’s a next step for him.”

Sanjay Manjrekar believes that becoming a finisher would be the next step for Gill, as it would help him grow in stature as a player. The elegant right-hander will be looking to make strides in that direction when Gujarat Titans face the Rajasthan Royals, the 2008 champions, in their next game on Sunday.

In conclusion, Gill is a talented young batsman who is determined to not only set up victories for his team but also finish them off. With his impressive track record and potential, he has the ability to become a great batsman like Dhoni and Kohli if he can develop himself into a finisher. Fans and spectators will be eagerly watching his performances in the upcoming matches to see if he can take his game to the next level.
