Karnataka Lokayukta raids properties of 15 govt officials, seizes cash, assets worth over Rs 30 crore

Karnataka Lokayukta Police Wednesday conducted massive search operations across the state in connection with 15 disproportionate asset cases registered against 15 government officers in Lokayukta police stations of Bengaluru City, Bangalore Rural, Ramanagara, Chikkaballapura, Chikkamagaluru, Madikeri, Tumkur, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Kalaburagi, Raichur, Belagavi, Kolar and Yadagiri.

Simultaneous searches were conducted at the residences, offices and residences of the relatives of the accused government officers in 62 locations leading to seizures worth over Rs 30 crore.

The accused government officials belong to various departments, including agriculture, rural drinking water and sanitation, engineering, town and country planning, public works department, health and family welfare, and Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited. The Karnataka Lokyaukta in a statement said all cases are currently under Investigation.

Searches were conducted at 11 places of Ajith Kumar Rai, Tahashildar (Grade-2), Bengaluru East Taluk, K R Puram, Bengaluru, (FIR Registered in KLA Bengaluru City, PS), leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 1.9 crore, including Rs 40 lakh in cash.

The searches also disclosed documents related to several properties in the names of other people running into hundreds of acres of land and also several high-end cars which are currently being suspected to be benami properties of the accused.

Raids were also conducted at the premises of Chetana, Joint Director, Office of the Joint Director, Agriculture department, Bagalkot, (FIR Registered in KLA Bagalkot, PS). Two places connected to the accused were searched, leading to a disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 1.45 crore, including Rs 32 lakh in cash.

The raids were also conducted at Krishna Ramappa Shirur, Agriculture Officer (Tech-2), ADA Office, Bilagi taluk, Bagalkote (FIR Registered in KLA Bagalakote, PS). Four places belonging to the accused government officer were searched, leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 71.88 lakh.

Raids were also conducted at the premises of Jinnappa Padmanna Shetti, A.E.E, Rural Drinking Water & Sanitisation Dept, Muddebihala (FIR registered in KLA Vijayapura, PS). Three places belonging to the accused were searched leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 1.42 crore.

The sleuths also raided premises connected to Bhimanagouda, Junior Engineer, Office of the AEE, PWD Sub-division, Basavana Bagewadi (FIR Registered in KLA Vijayapura, PS). Two places belonging to the accused were searched leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 1.9 crore.

Properties of P M Abdul Bashir, F.D.A, Madikeri Sub-division, Rural Drinking Water and Sanitation Dept, Kodagu district (FIR Registered in KLA Kodagu, PS) were also raided. Three places belonging to the accused were searched leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 1.14 crore, including Rs 14 lakh in cash.

Raids were also conducted at premises connected with Sharanappa, Member Secretary, Office of the Asst. Director, Town & Country Planning, Sindhanur (FIR Registered in KLA Kalaburagi, PS). Four places belonging to the accused were searched leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 2.03 crore, including Rs 14 lakh in cash.

Premises of K H Ravi, joint Director, Office of the Joint Director, Agriculture Dept, Tumakuru (FIR Registered in KLA Ramanagara, PS) were also raided. Six places belonging to the accused were searched leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 4.27 crore.

The Lokayukta police also raided premises belonging to G N Prakash, A.E.E, PWD (FIR Registered in KLA Raichur, PS). Two places belonging to the accused were searched leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 2.71 crore.

The sleuths also conducted raids at properties related to Shekar Hanumant Bahurupi, E.E (Ele), O&M Divn, GESCOM, Hagaribommanalli, Vijayanagar (FIR Registered in KLA Belagavi, PS). Four places belonging to the accused were searched leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 3 crore.

Properties related to V Ramesh, Excise Inspector, Gouribidanur Tq. (FIR Registered in KLA Chikkaballapur, PS) were also raided. Five places belonging to the accused were searched leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 2.44 crore.

The Lokayukta police also raided properties of Vishwanatha Reddy, A.E.E, Office of the Health & Family Welfare Dept, Engineering Sub-division, Raichur I/c Yadgiri (FIR Registered in KLA Yadagiri, PS). Two places belonging to the accused were searched leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 1.27 crore.

The sleuths also raided premises belonging to K B Puttaraju, A.E, Rural Development & Panchayath Raj Engineering Sub-division, Sira Tq. (FIR Registered in KLA Tumakuru, PS). Four places belonging to the accused were searched leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 1.04 crore.

The police also raided Kodandaramaiah V, A.E, Grade-2, KRIDL, I/c AEE KRIDL, Tumkuru district (FIR Registered in KLA Kolar, PS). Six places belonging to the accused were searched leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 2.47 crore.

The raids were also conducted at premises belonging to Gangadhar Y, Planning Manager, Nirmithi Kendra, Chikkamagaluru district (FIR Registered in KLA Chikkamagaluru, PS). Four places belonging to the accused were searched leading to disclosure of properties of approximate value of Rs 3.75 crore.
