Two employees were injured after five men vandalised a petrol pump in Ludhiana Sunday allegedly enraged by the pump staff’s refusal to fill fuel in a bottle. One person has been arrested in connection with this.
The incident took place at a petrol pump in the Focal Point area of Ludhiana late on Sunday. The accused men vandalised fuel dispensers, CCTV cameras and two LED monitors, and allegedly snatched Rs 10,000 in cash from staff, said the police. They also allegedly threatened to set the fuel station on fire.

A First Information Report was registered based on the complaint of pump owner Inderjit Singh, who told police that two bike-borne men turned up and asked them to fill the petrol in the bottle. After the employees refused to fill the bottle, the accused reportedly abused them before leaving. Later, they returned with their aides and opened an attack on the employees, threatening them with sharp-edged weapons and iron rods, as per the FIR.
After the employees locked themselves in the cabin to save their lives, the accused broke open the door and dragged them outside, the FIR added. Two employees of the petrol pump – Mukesh and Sanjiv – suffered injuries in the assault and have been hospitalised.
Ludhiana DCP (rural) Jaskiranjit Singh Teja said police have arrested one of the accused and a hunt is on for others. An FIR was registered at Moti Nagar police station under Indian Penal Code sections 307 (attempt to murder), 323, 379-B, 427, 148, 149 and 506.
Police arrested Sonu Takkar while his aides, including Ajay Kumar, Sahil of Muslim Colony, Rohit of Deep Nagar and Harsh alias Ravi of Muslim Colony, are yet to be held.
