A 22-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by his friends in Southwest Delhi’s Delhi Cantt area last week, said police, adding that two accused have been arrested.
A video of the incident, which took place on the evening of June 24, has been circulating on social media, wherein two men are purportedly seen stabbing the victim as he tries to resist the attack. Visuals show blood spattered across the road. Police said the victim, Ashish Kumar, later succumbed to injuries.
According to police, a PCR call was made around 7.15 pm by locals. “We reached AIIMS Trauma Centre and collected the MLC of the patient, Ashish alias Dhanu, a resident of Jharera village. The staff also recorded the statements of his father and eyewitnesses. One of the accused held the victim while the other attacked him with a knife. A lot of blood was also lying at the spot,” said a senior police officer. Police said that they arrested the two friends, named Vikas and Vanshu, a day after the incident.
The father of the victim alleged that his son left the house around 6 pm after his two friends Vikas and Vanshu reached their house and called Ashish.
“The father… followed the trio… Around 6.30 pm, the men reached APS Road, Jharera village and started quarrelling. During the fight, Vikas caught hold of Ashish while Vanshu started stabbing him with a knife. The father intervened and tried to save his son with the help of locals but the accused managed to flee.” added the officer
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had “old enmity” with the deceased and allegedly planned to kill him, said police. They allegedly called him to have liquor, but took him to an isolated spot and stabbed him, said police.
