Paris Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2023-2024

Paris Fashion Week displays continued in vivid form, with everything from Renaissance art to couture and celebrity interruptions while showcasing the French capital’s final trends for fall-winter 2023–2024.

Here are some highlights of ready-to-wear collections from Thursday:

Paris Fashion Week is one of the most highly anticipated events in the fashion industry, and the Fall/Winter 2023-24 collections did not disappoint. With the COVID-19 pandemic still affecting the world, the fashion industry has had to adapt to new challenges and find innovative ways to showcase their designs. Despite these obstacles, the designers at Paris Fashion Week managed to put on a spectacular show that left viewers in awe.

One of the standout shows of the week was from the legendary fashion house Chanel. Creative Director Virginie Viard presented a collection that was both elegant and edgy, featuring a mix of classic Chanel elements with modern twists. The collection featured plenty of tweed, but this time it was paired with leather and punk-inspired accessories, such as studded belts and chokers. There were also some stunning eveningwear pieces, including a black velvet gown with intricate beading and a feathered skirt.

Another notable show was from Balenciaga, which featured oversized coats, jackets, and pants that gave the models a larger-than-life presence on the runway. Designer Demna Gvasalia played with proportions and silhouettes, resulting in a collection that was both avant-garde and wearable. The color palette was mostly black, white, and grey, with occasional pops of bold color, such as a bright yellow coat.

Maison Margiela presented a collection that was both whimsical and thought-provoking. Designer John Galliano played with fabrics and textures, mixing unexpected materials such as fur and plastic. The collection was also infused with a sense of nostalgia, with references to the 1940s and 1950s in the form of A-line skirts and fitted jackets. One standout piece was a white gown with a long train made entirely of feathers.

Saint Laurent, under the direction of Anthony Vaccarello, presented a collection that was both sexy and sophisticated. The collection was dominated by black leather and sheer fabrics, with plenty of cutouts and plunging necklines. There were also some stunning sequin pieces, including a silver sequin gown that was the epitome of glamor.

In addition to the established fashion houses, Paris Fashion Week also showcased some up-and-coming designers who are poised to make a big impact in the industry. One such designer was Marine Serre, who presented a collection that was both futuristic and eco-friendly. The collection featured plenty of bold prints and patterns, with an emphasis on recycled materials and sustainable fashion.

Overall, Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2023-24 was a testament to the resilience and creativity of the fashion industry. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic, designers were able to produce collections that were both stunning and thought-provoking. From classic Chanel tweed to Balenciaga’s oversized silhouettes, there was something for everyone at this year’s event. We can’t wait to see what the designers have in store for us next season.
