The director of “Pathaan,” Siddharth Anand, has revealed that there was a deleted scene in the film that discussed the religion of Shah Rukh Khan’s character. An extended version of the movie that includes this scene will be made available on an OTT platform, although no further information about the release has been provided.
Shah Rukh Khan returned to the big screen after four years with the release of Siddharth Anand’s action-thriller Pathaan, which has been a major success at the box office. In the movie, Deepika Padukone’s character questions Shah Rukh’s character about his religion, to which he responds that he was named Pathaan for saving children in Afghanistan. However, the director has revealed that a deleted scene related to the character’s religion may be included in the OTT release. Shah Rukh’s last movie was Zero in 2018.
In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, Siddharth Anand the director of Pathaan, talked about the collaboration between himself and producers Abbas, Sridhar, and Adi. He explained that they share the same belief system and have similar tastes in cinema, which led to the creation of the character Pathaan in the film. Anand mentioned that Pathaan does not have a name and was found in a theatre called Navrang, which was edited out of the theatrical release but may be included in the OTT version. Anand also mentioned that the team did not find the concept of the character not having a religion to be cheesy and instead thought it was a great idea. They believed that the character only cared about his country, and the team’s like-mindedness gave them confidence in their creative choices.
