Prof Debashis Chatterjee re-appointed as director of IIM Kozhikode

Professor Debashis Chatterjee has been re-appointed as the director of the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) for a second term of five years. The decision was taken by the Board of Governors of IIMK after a rigorous selection process.

Prof. Chatterjee has been leading IIMK since April 2017 and under his leadership, the institute has made significant progress in various areas, including academics, research, infrastructure, and international collaborations. During his first term, he introduced several new initiatives, such as the EQUIS accreditation, which has made IIMK one of the few institutes in India to receive this prestigious accreditation.

Prof. Chatterjee is an alumnus of IIM Calcutta and holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. He has also served as the director of IIM Lucknow and has been a professor of organizational behavior at several top business schools in India and abroad. He is a well-known author, with several bestselling books on leadership and management to his credit.

Under Prof. Chatterjee’s leadership, IIMK has seen a significant increase in the number of students and faculty, with a strong emphasis on diversity and inclusivity. The institute has also forged several international collaborations with top universities and business schools around the world, enabling students and faculty to gain global exposure and expertise.

With his re-appointment, Prof. Chatterjee will continue to lead IIMK on its path towards academic excellence, innovation, and social impact. He has expressed his gratitude to the Board of Governors for entrusting him with this responsibility and has promised to work towards achieving the institute’s vision and mission.

Prof. Chatterjee has over three decades of experience in management education, research, and consulting. Prior to joining IIM Kozhikode, he served as Director of IIM Lucknow and Chairman of the Board of Governors of IIM Rohtak. He has also worked as a consultant for several leading organizations, including World Bank, UNDP, and the European Union.

Under his leadership, IIM Kozhikode has been consistently ranked among the top management institutes in India and has expanded its academic offerings to include specialized programs in fields such as analytics and entrepreneurship.

Prof. Chatterjee is known for his innovative approaches to management education, including the introduction of a leadership module that focuses on developing ethical and responsible leaders. He is also a prolific writer, having authored several books and articles on management, leadership, and education.
