Ruckus over Rahul Gandhi’s remarks on Indian democracy and other issues leads to adjournment of both Houses of Parliament till Monday.

For five consecutive days, the Indian Parliament has been embroiled in controversy over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s comments on Indian democracy and the Adani Group issue. Both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha were adjourned for the day due to protests by both the opposition and the treasury benches.

During the Lok Sabha proceedings, the treasury bench members began to chant slogans demanding an apology from Rahul Gandhi, while members from the Congress, DMK, and other parties demanded a Joint Parliamentary Committee probe into the Adani Group matter. Meanwhile, members of other opposition parties like TMC and NCP were on their feet. Despite Speaker Om Birla’s efforts to bring order to the House, agitating members continued with their protest, and the House was adjourned for the day.

In the Rajya Sabha, Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar disallowed the adjournment notices given by the opposition party members over the Adani Group matter. Congress, AAP, and other members then gathered in the well of the house, calling for the constitution of a Joint Parliamentary Committee on the issue. Other opposition party members, including TMC, DMK, and the Left, were also on their feet. Treasury bench members countered the opposition parties by reiterating their demand for Rahul Gandhi’s apology. The House was eventually adjourned for the day due to the noisy scene.

Meanwhile, Minister of Information and Broadcasting Anurag Singh Thakur demanded an unconditional apology from Rahul Gandhi over his remarks on Indian democracy during his recent visit to the UK. Mr. Thakur accused the Congress leader of defaming and spreading lies about Parliament, a prestigious institution.

The ongoing controversy highlights the deep divisions between the opposition and the ruling party in India. The Adani Group issue, which involves allegations of favoritism and corruption in awarding contracts to the company, has become a lightning rod for criticism of the government. Rahul Gandhi’s comments about Indian democracy have also been seen as a criticism of the ruling party’s policies.

The continued disruption of Parliament proceedings has drawn criticism from many quarters, with some arguing that it undermines the democratic process. The Indian Parliament plays a crucial role in shaping the country’s policies, and it is essential that its proceedings are conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.

The controversy surrounding Rahul Gandhi’s comments and the Adani Group issue has brought the Indian Parliament to a standstill for five consecutive days. While it is essential that the opposition holds the government accountable for its actions, it is also crucial that the Parliament’s proceedings are conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner.
