Get ready to witness India’s top badminton players, Saina Nehwal and Parupalli Kashyap, in action at the much-awaited Orleans Master 2023 tournament in France. The event, which is set to run from April 4 to 9, will mark Kashyap’s first tournament of the year, while Nehwal aims to bounce back after missing out on several competitions earlier this year.
Unfortunately, PV Sindhu, who recently lost in the final of the Madrid Masters, as well as men’s singles players Lakshay Sen, Kidambi Srikanth, and HS Prannoy will not be participating in the BWF Super 300 tournament.
For Nehwal, the former world No. 1, this tournament will serve as an opportunity to start fresh and climb up the rankings. After missing out on the German Open, All England Open, Swiss Open, and the Madrid Spain Masters tournaments, Nehwal is eager to make a comeback. The 31-year-old player will start her campaign against a qualifier in the opening round, with the possibility of playing Rio 2016 Olympic champion Carolina Marin in the second round.
Meanwhile, Kashyap, who has been out of action due to injury, will make a return to the court ahead of the Paris 2024 qualification phase. The 97th-ranked shuttler in the men’s singles will start from the qualifiers and face off against Chinese Taipei’s Chi Yu Jen, against whom he enjoys a slight head-to-head advantage, having won against him at the Taipei Open last year.
In addition to Nehwal and Kashyap, other Indian players will be participating in the tournament. Malvika Bansod and Aakarshi Kashyap will participate in the women’s singles events, while Sameer Verma and Mithun Manjunath will be in action in the men’s singles. B Sai Praneeth will face a qualifier in the opener. Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy, who won the Swiss Open last month, are the top seeds in the men’s doubles, while N Sikki Reddy and Arathi Sara Sunil, as well as Ritika Thaker and Simran Singhi, will represent India in the women’s doubles.
For those looking to watch the Orleans Masters Open 2023 live in India, the Badminton World Federation’s official YouTube channel, BWF TV, will be live streaming all the matches. Unfortunately, there will be no live telecast of the event on any TV channel in India.
The Orleans Master 2023 tournament promises to be an exciting event for badminton enthusiasts, with India’s top players vying for glory on the court. Don’t miss the chance to catch your favorite players in action!
