Satyaprem Ki Katha box office collection Day 4: Kartik Aaryan-Kiara Advani film records better opening weekend than The Kerala Story, nears Rs 50 cr mark

After Om Raut’s Adipurush floundered at the box office, Sameer Vidwans’ Satyaprem Ki Katha is experiencing a highly favourable scenario, with the box office momentum shifting entirely to its advantage. After earning Rs 9.25 crore, Rs 7 crore and Rs 10.10 crore in the first three days, the Kartik Aaryan-Kiara Advani starrer, which was released on June 29, minted a whopping Rs 12 crore (early estimates) on its first Sunday, industry tracker Sacnilk reported.

Despite receiving mixed reviews from critics, Satyaprem Ki Katha is persisting with its triumphant run in theatres. However, the film’s performance during the week remains uncertain and awaits observation.

While the film recorded a collection of Rs 9.25 crore on its first day, the figure dipped to Rs 7 crore on Friday. However, the romantic drama recorded a jump of 44.29% on Saturday and eked out Rs 10.10 crore. The film has, so far, earned Rs 38.35 crore.

Satyaprem Ki Katha’s box office performance has till now been good and steady, especially compared to Kartik Aaryan’s last release, Shehzada (2023), a remake of the Telugu blockbuster Ala Vaikunthapurramloo. By minting Rs 6 crore, Rs 6.65 crore and Rs 7.55 crore, Shehzada could earn only Rs 20.2 crore over the first weekend. Whereas, Satyaprem Ki Katha has managed to eke out Rs 26.35 crore during this time.

For Kiara Advani, Satyaprem Ki Katha’s box office numbers till now might be seen as a setback, considering her previous theatrical release was the blockbuster family comedy-drama Jugjugg Jeeyo (2022). Jugjugg Jeeyo garnered a remarkable first-weekend collection of Rs 36.93 crore, raking in Rs 9.28 crore, Rs 12.55 crore, and Rs 15.1 crore on the initial three days of its release.

Helmed by Sameer Vidhwans, Satyaprem Ki Katha also stars Gajraj Rao, Supriya Pathak, Siddharth Randheria, Anooradha Patel, Rajpal Yadav, Nirrmite Saawaant and Shikha Talsania.

However, since Satyaprem Ki Katha doesn’t have any strong competition at the box office right now, as both Adipurush and Laxman Utekar’s Zara Hatke Zara Bachke are out of the race, the romantic drama is likely to witness even better box office numbers in the coming days.

In her review of the film, The Indian Express’ Shubhra Gupta noted: “Somewhere under the overwrought and overcooked plot of Kartik Aaryan-Kiara Advani starrer is a real film about two people dealing with troubled pasts, but it gets buried under everything else that the movie throws at us.”
