The upcoming release of Shah Rukh Khan’s “Jawan” is anticipated to shatter box office records, with predictions of a staggering ₹65-70 crore opening day collection. This film marks a significant moment for Bollywood as cinema halls across India witness a resurgence in audience footfalls after nearly three years of pandemic-induced closures.

The year 2023 has been a boon for the Hindi film industry, thanks in large part to Shah Rukh Khan’s return to the big screen with “Pathaan.” This resurgence has been further fueled by the excitement surrounding a slew of upcoming releases, including “Gadar 2,” “Satyaprem Ki Katha,” “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,” “OMG 2,” and even smaller productions like “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke.”

The fervor created by Shah Rukh Khan, fondly known as SRK, has led to record-breaking advance ticket sales for his upcoming movie, “Jawan.” As of the time of writing, an astounding 7.5 lakh tickets have already been sold in India, as reported by ticket aggregator BookMyShow.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh, reflecting on the current ticket sales scenario, expressed his optimism, stating, “The overall scenario is very positive now. People are going back to the cinemas. Those who felt Hindi cinema was dead and no one wanted to watch it, I think it has completely changed the whole scenario in the last couple of months. It’s a great period to be in.”

“Jawan,” directed by Atlee, features Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role. The film appears to be a vigilante drama where SRK’s character leads a group of fearless women in a fight for the nation’s honor. Alongside Khan, the movie also stars prominent South Indian film industry figures Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi. Deepika Padukone makes a special appearance, adding to the film’s star-studded ensemble.

Film producer and trade expert Girish Johar is confident that “Jawan” will achieve the remarkable milestone of crossing ₹100 crores on its opening day, slated for release on September 7, 2023. Johar stated, “The first-day expectations are skyrocketing high. I am seeing the ₹100 crore mark easily being crossed. I am expecting a start of around $4-5 million in overseas alone, which is around ₹40 crore, and a minimum of ₹60 crore in India.” He further emphasized that the anticipation surrounding “Jawan” is enormous, prompting cinema operators to schedule additional screenings of the film. The movie is set to premiere in over 4,500 screens across India, including morning shows.

The stage is set for “Jawan” to make a significant impact on the box office, potentially setting new records and reaffirming Shah Rukh Khan’s status as one of Bollywood’s biggest stars. With audience excitement at its peak and cinema halls bustling with eager moviegoers, the film’s release promises to be a milestone moment in the post-pandemic revival of the Indian film industry.
