Shoaib Akhtar takes a dig at Satya Prem Ki Katha’s Pasoori Nu, Pak celebs and fans slam Kartik Aaryan track: ‘Pasoori No’

Who knew that a track from Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani starrer romantic drama would be uniting Indians and Pakistanis online in their collective dislike for a song. Satya Prem Ki Katha’s latest track, Pasoori Nu, remake of the original Coke Studio smash hit Pasoori by singers Ali Sethi and Shae Gil, has left Pakistani celebrities and fans miffed.

The Hindi track, composed by Rochak Kohli and sung by Arijit Singh and Tulsi Kumar, released recently to largely negative response, getting panned by listeners across the border for “butchering” the original track which dominated charts upon its release last year.

Former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar took to Twitter and took a sly dig at the Bollywood track. Others, including Pakistani actors Adnan Siddiqui and Amar Khan were more direct in their criticism.

Akhtar took to Twitter and wrote, “Aye ki pasoori paayi ay (What is this tripe).” The former cricketer got several replies from his fans, who were equally baffled with the remake. “Beraa ghark kr k rkh dea (They have destroyed it),” a user wrote, while another commented, “Pakistan ke pasoori ka pasoora bana dia inho ne (They have completely messed up Pakistan’s Pasoori).”

Before the Arjit Singh track was released, Siddiqui had tweeted, “Pasoori is a song loved all over the world. I hope Bollywood won’t slaughter this masterpiece as it does to others in the garb of remaking.” After the song was out, however, the actor wrote the remake was “not good as usual”.

“And Bollywood did exactly what we feared!” he wrote. Amar Khan wondered why was the original song called a “global hit” and not a “Pakistani hit”. In her tweet, she wrote, “Wait a second I wish they had titled it as a“Pakistani Hit”coz “Global Hit” is very smartly placed to avoid the origins of the iconic song which is #madeinpakistan Ps : No cross border hatred, Ive grown up on indian songs and i hate when they ruin their own classics off late.”

A fan noted how Pakistani artistes aren’t allowed to work in Bollywood anymore–after the 20-16 Uri attacks–but the industry comfortably uses their songs for commercial purposes.

“Banning Pakistani artists from working in the industry, meanwhile having no shame remaking and not to add butchering a beloved pop culture hit just to create a little buzz around your next film. Bollywood just keeps going lower. have some shame. #SatyaPremKiKatha #KartikAaryan,”the tweet read.

Satya Prem Ki Katha is scheduled to release on June 29.
