SP Maharashtra president gets death threat, case lodged

Police registered a case after Samajwadi Party Maharashtra unit chief and MLA Abu Asim Azmi allegedly received death threat messages from an anonymous person on Monday.

On behalf of Azmi, his driver Motilal Yadav has filed a police complaint.

As per the complaint, on Monday afternoon the MLA from Mankhurd Shivaji Nagar constituency received threat messages on his WhatsApp.

“He received a photo with a gun, crosshairs and a blood-stained knife pointing at him. The image had a warning note that read: 3 din time (There is time for three days),” said a police officer.

Azmi also tweeted about the said threat and tagged the chief minister, deputy chief minister and the city police commissioner.

Based on his complaint, the Colaba police have registered a case under Section 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code are further probing the matter.
