State Civil Services Officers attend 124th Induction Training Programme addressed by President Murmu

Indian President Smt. Droupadi Murmu met with state civil service officers attending the 124th Induction Training Programme at LBSNAA in Rashtrapati Bhavan on March 13, 2023. During her address to the officers, the President congratulated them for their induction into Indian Administrative Services after serving for over 20 years in different capacities within state governments. She urged them to work with the spirit of “Nation First” and “People First” and adhere to the principles of integrity, transparency, commitment, and promptness as IAS officers.

The President expressed her concern about the tendency to maintain the status quo and emphasized the importance of civil servants having a “change for the better” mindset. She stated that the country needs civil servants who are innovative, proactive, professional, progressive, energetic, transparent, tech-enabled, and constructive. The administrative leaders embodying these leadership styles and values will be better placed to serve the nation and citizens.

The President also highlighted the need for officers to acquire new skills and knowledge continuously. She emphasized that an officer should be a lifelong learner and keep pace with new trends and developments in technology and governance practices. She urged the officers to be sensitive to the needs and aspirations of people and create an enabling environment to solve their problems.

The President also spoke about the importance of teamwork and collaboration among officers to achieve better outcomes. She emphasized that officers should avoid working in silos and make a conscious effort to work together with different departments and stakeholders. She also stressed the importance of maintaining good communication with the people they serve and the importance of being responsive to their concerns.

The President thanked the officers for their dedication and service to the country and expressed her confidence that they would continue to serve with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity. She urged them to work together towards a shared vision of a prosperous and equitable India, where every citizen can realize their full potential.
