Swati Bhargava: An Enterprising Internet Entrepreneur Making Waves in India

Ambala-born Swati Bhargava has emerged as a leading figure in the Indian internet industry through her innovative ventures. As the co-founder of CashKaro.com, a prominent coupon and cashback website, Bhargava has revolutionized the way people shop online. Her contributions to the e-commerce sector have garnered widespread recognition and accolades.

Bhargava’s entrepreneurial journey began in 2011 when she established PureingPound, a cashback and coupon website based in the United Kingdom. Partnering with renowned retailers such as Tesco, Marks & Spencer, Debenhams, and Expedia, PureingPound enabled its members to enjoy substantial savings on their everyday purchases. This early success paved the way for Bhargava’s subsequent ventures.

In 2013, Bhargava and her husband, Rohan Bhargava, ventured into the Indian market with the launch of CashKaro.com. The platform introduced the concept of cashback in India, allowing users to earn money on their online transactions. Recognizing the potential of the Indian e-commerce sector, CashKaro.com quickly gained popularity among consumers, positioning itself as a leader in the industry.

To support the growth of CashKaro.com, the Bhargava duo secured a seed funding of Rs 4.5 crore from a UK-based angel investor group in the same year of its launch. This infusion of capital further fueled the expansion of the platform, allowing it to reach a larger customer base and forge partnerships with numerous e-commerce giants.

Prior to her entrepreneurial endeavors, Bhargava gained invaluable experience working at Goldman Sachs in London, UK. From 2005 to 2009, she served in the Investment Banking Division, specializing in Structured Products for Financial Institutions. In 2010, she took on a role in the executive office of Goldman Sachs International CEO, Michael Sherwood, and Richard Gnodde, further honing her skills and business acumen.

Bhargava’s accomplishments have not gone unnoticed, as she has received numerous awards and recognition for her contributions to the industry. She was nominated as the Top Young Business Woman of 2016 by CNBC-TV18, highlighting her exceptional achievements and leadership in the field. Additionally, she earned a nomination for the Economic Times Startup Awards in August 2016, further solidifying her position as a trailblazing entrepreneur.

Furthermore, Bhargava was honored with India’s First Digital Women Award for Best Service Provider Company in the E-Commerce Industry by Sheedipeople.tv. Her dedication to innovation and excellence has been commended by renowned figures, including Cherie Blair, who nominated her for the Young Achiever category at the Asian Women’s Achievement Awards in 2011.

Swati Bhargava’s journey from a small town in India to becoming a prominent figure in the internet industry is a testament to her determination and entrepreneurial spirit. Through her ventures, she has not only transformed the way Indians shop online but has also inspired aspiring entrepreneurs across the country.
