Tata Motors has further expanded its popular ‘Dark Edition’ lineup with the launch of the all-electric Tata Curvv EV Dark Edition, priced at ₹22.24 lakh (ex-showroom). This stealthy new variant injects a dose of menacing style into the already striking coupe-SUV, following the successful introduction of the Dark Edition for its internal combustion engine (ICE) counterpart.
The Curvv EV Dark Edition adopts the signature all-black aesthetic that has become synonymous with Tata’s ‘Dark’ series. This includes an exclusive Carbon Black exterior paint finish, lending the electric SUV a sophisticated and assertive road presence. Complementing the dark exterior are blacked-out elements across the vehicle, including the skid plates and dark chrome badging. A distinctive ‘#DARK’ mascot on the front fender further emphasizes its special edition status.
The visual upgrades extend to the wheels, with the Curvv EV Dark Edition sporting stylish and exclusive dark alloy wheels, enhancing its overall stealthy appeal. While the majority of the exterior embraces the darkness, the ‘EV’ badges on the front doors retain their signature blue hue, providing a subtle visual distinction.
Stepping inside the cabin, the all-black theme continues, creating a premium and sporty ambiance. The interior features black leatherette upholstery on the seats, complete with ‘#DARK’ embossing on the headrests. The dashboard, center console, and door trims are finished in black, often accented with piano black trim and subtle blue ambient lighting, mirroring the design language of the standard Curvv EV. Notably, the Dark Edition also introduces rear window sunshades, a functional addition that enhances privacy and comfort for rear passengers.
In terms of features, the Tata Curvv EV Dark Edition is based on the top-spec Empowered+ A variant of the regular Curvv EV, ensuring a comprehensive list of equipment. This includes a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster,1 and ventilated front seats. Other premium features carried over include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a premium JBL sound system with nine speakers.
Safety remains a priority, with the Dark Edition retaining the safety features of the top-spec model, including a comprehensive Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) suite, six airbags, rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). It’s worth noting that the standard Tata Curvv EV has already achieved a 5-star safety rating in Bharat NCAP crash testing.
Mechanically, the Tata Curvv EV Dark Edition remains unchanged. It is powered by the larger 55 kWh battery pack, offering a claimed MIDC range of 502 km on a single charge. The single electric motor delivers 167 bhp and 215 Nm of torque, enabling a 0-100 km/h sprint in a claimed 8.6 seconds. The EV supports both AC charging (7.2kW) and DC fast charging (up to 70kW), allowing for a 10-80% charge in approximately 40 minutes with a fast charger.
With a price premium of approximately ₹25,000 over the standard Empowered+ A variant, the Tata Curvv EV Dark Edition caters to buyers seeking a distinctive and stylish electric SUV with a bold, all-black aesthetic and a feature-rich package. It further strengthens Tata Motors’ position in the competitive electric vehicle market, offering a compelling option for those who want to embrace electric mobility with a touch of darkness.
