Technical snag in power lines causes outage in many areas

The power supply to many areas in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad was affected on Saturday after technical snags developed in the 400 KVA high-power transmission lines operated by the Power Grid Corporation of India from Shikrapur to Taleagoan.

A statement issued by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) said work was undertaken on a war footing to restore the power supply. Since 9am on Saturday, the power supply to several parts in the city was stopped due to the snag in the high-power transmission lines. Power supply to areas in Pimpri, Rahatani, Pimple Saudagar, Chinchwadgaon, Kalewadi, Walhekarwadi, Dehu Road, Dehugaon, Kharadi, Old Sangvi, Thitewadi, Theur , Perne and other areas was stopped.

The Power Grid Corporation took up the work of fixing the snag in the transmission lines and restoring the power supply on a war footing. However, since it takes at least 7-8 hours to rectify the snag in the high-tension transmission lines, the power corporation said they would have to mandatorily snap the power supply in many areas. The power supply to the affected areas was restored in the evening.
