Kashmir, known as the “Paradise on Earth,” is a beautiful and serene place to visit. My recent trip to Kashmir was an unforgettable experience that left me with lasting memories.
My journey started from Srinagar, the capital city of the state. The beauty of the city is evident from the moment you step out of the airport, with its stunning surroundings of mountains, lakes, and gardens. The city is also famous for its unique houseboats on Dal Lake, where I stayed for a few nights.
One of the highlights of my trip was visiting the famous Mughal Gardens, including Shalimar Bagh and Nishat Bagh. The gardens are a testament to the Mughal era and their love for landscaping and architecture. The lush greenery, fountains, and breathtaking views of the Zabarwan Hills from the gardens are a sight to behold.
Another must-visit location in Srinagar is the Shankaracharya Temple, located atop a hill. The temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva, offers a panoramic view of the city and the surrounding mountains.
After spending a few days in Srinagar, I headed to Gulmarg, a famous ski resort located at an altitude of 8,700 feet. The drive to Gulmarg was itself an exhilarating experience, with winding roads and stunning views of the snow-capped mountains. The resort offered several activities, including skiing, snowboarding, and a gondola ride, which gave me an opportunity to enjoy the stunning views of the Himalayas.
Next on my itinerary was Pahalgam, a picturesque town located on the banks of the Lidder River. The town is famous for its scenic views and is a popular destination for trekking and hiking.
