Varun Alagh, the Co-Founder, Chief Dad and CEO of Honasa Consumer Pvt Ltd, is a dynamic force in the FMCG industry. With an engineering degree from DCE and an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur, Varun is on a mission to revolutionize consumer products with a focus on safety and natural ingredients.

Varun’s journey began in sales at HUL, where he managed an 800-crore area dealing in over 20 categories. His exemplary performance led to him being recognized as one of the top managers at HUL for two consecutive years.

Following his success in sales, Varun transitioned to marketing, where he spearheaded innovations and communication development for Rexona & Sure deodorants across South Asia at Unilever. His innovative thinking and strategic approach were invaluable assets in this role.

Varun’s prowess in brand management took him to Coca-Cola, where he managed one of the world’s most valuable brands. His responsibilities extended to the Diets and Lights portfolio for India and South West Asia, including Bangladesh, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. In this capacity, Varun was instrumental in driving top-line and bottom-line growth for the brand.

A pivotal moment in Varun’s career came with the founding of Honasa Consumer Pvt Ltd. Under his leadership, the company has emerged as a digital-first FMCG conglomerate with a focus on creating products rooted in honesty, natural ingredients, and safe care. Their flagship brand, Mamaearth, is Asia’s first MadeSafe-certified brand, dedicated to providing safe and natural solutions for parents and children.

Honasa Consumer Limited (HCL) has expanded its portfolio to include digital-first consumer brands like The Derma Co., Aqualogica, and Ayuga. The recent acquisitions of BBLUNT and content platform Momspresso have further bolstered HCL’s position in the market.

Supported by venture capital heavyweights including Sequoia Capital India, Sofina SA, Fireside Ventures, and Stellaris Venture Partners, HCL is poised to become a billion-dollar FMCG conglomerate in the next five years. Their vision is to have a global presence, united through a digital centre of excellence.
